Do you remember the days of door-to-door salesmen? Also known as the Traveling Salesmen, or the archaic name drummer, stemming from, to “drum up” business. Door-to-door is a dying field.
I remember my parents buying a vacuum from a salesman. I think it was an Electrolux. I also remember The Avon Lady coming over and the fun I had trying on makeup while my Mom would be purchasing away.
We even bought our Brittanica’s from a traveling salesman
And who could forget the ever-popular Tupperware parties? Where women would congregate around a table of colorful plastic containers choosing their favorite iconic containers. building their businesses sales, giving women the opportunity to make direct to consumer sales.
Some of the oldest companies that have followed this direct to consumer sales model model include: Amway, Fuller Brush, Mary Kay and Shaklee.
