Digimon, digital monsters

After Pokemon became popular in the US, it was no surprise that other Japanese Anime shows would surface on American television. Digimon grabbed hold of my childhood curiosity when I was about 10 years old.

The show was great. Kids (similar to my age) had these awesome dinosaur-esque pets, that would follow them around, and even talk! I mean, what kid wouldn't want that? But that's not the coolest part. When Digimon went into battle, the would morph into these awesome fighters, that would completely deviate from their original form. It was amazing.

I think I watched the first two seasons of the show, but like all other hit television shows, they started expanding characters and story lines, making it harder to follow and deviating from the original plot. Still, I'll always have memories of the theme song, "DIGIMON, DIGITAL MONSTERS, DIGIMON ARE THE CHAMPIONS!"
